| Alcatel-Lucent and Arbor Networks Partner to Stop DDoS Attacks |
|
In January 2012, Arbor Networks and Alcatel-Lucent publically announced and launched their partnership. The relationship between Arbor and Alcatel-Lucent is twofold. Technology Partnership: Arbor’s Peakflow SP Threat Management System (TMS) software is supported on the MultiService- Independent Service Adaptor (MS-ISA) in the Alcatel-Lucent 7750 Service Router (7750 SR). Reseller Relationship: Alcatel-Lucent is a certified reseller of Arbor’s industry leading Peakflow SP and Peakflow SP Threat Management Systems (TMS) DDoS Protection products and services. As DDoS attacks continue to grow in size, complexity and frequency, Enterprises look to their Internet Service Providers (ISPs) for help. At the same time, ISPs are looking for new ways to leverage their existing investment in network infrastructure by offering high value managed services to their customers. Cloud-based DDoS Protection services are an answer to both of these challenges. Deployed in a majority of the world's ISPs, Arbor’s Peakflow SP Threat Management System are the de facto standard for DDoS attack detection and mitigation. Prior to the partnership with Alcatel-Lucent, Arbor’s Threat Management System (TMS) had traditionally been a standalone appliance. This solution offers the benefit of not being reliant upon a specific router vendor or model of router. But as more Internet Service Providers deploy the Alcatel-Lucent 7750 Service Router (7750 SR) as a platform for delivery of multiple business services (i.e.IPVPN, IPSEC, cgNAT, Application Assurance etc.), they are recognizing that one logical expansion of their business edge portfolio of services is cloud-based DDoS Protection. To deliver this new high value service, Alcatel-Lucent has partnered with Arbor Networks to embed Arbor’s Threat Management System (TMS) technology into Alcatel-Lucent’s Multi Service-Independent Service Adapter (MS-ISA) running in their 7750 SR – this product is known as the TMS-ISA.
Each TMS-ISA can support up to 5 Gbps of mitigation capacity. The Alcatel-Lucent 7750 SR-12 can support a maximum of 12 TMS-ISA for a total of 60Gbps mitigation capacity while the Alcatel-Lucent 7750 SR-7 can support a maximum of 8 TMS-ISA for a total of 40 Gbps of mitigation capacity. There are multiple benefits of running the TMS technology in the Alcatel-Lucent 7750 SR.
Together the powerful combination of Peakflow SP, standalone TMS and TMS-ISA in the Alcatel-Lucent 7750 SR offer the most flexible, comprehensive, cloud-based DDoS Protection solution in the industry today.
